Uthungulu
is controlled by its Board of Directors, which meets quarterly. A full-time
Company Secretary is responsible for ensuring compliance with appropriate
levels of corporate governance. All the directors have a history of having
excelled in their various fields and have successful track records.
Musawenkosi Bethuel Myeni

Musawenkosi (“Musa”) is the founder and executive chairman of Uthungulu. He
is a very experienced businessman, both nationally and internationally. Musa
has held various senior management positions in the private sector. He is a
director of a number of small businesses, as well as the Chairman of Tsogo
Sun KwaZulu-Natal (Pty) Ltd. Over and above his experience, Musa brings
strong and disciplined leadership to the company.

Musa Mvivinywa Aaron Shezi

Dr Shezi
is the managing director of Via Afrika Limited, the book publishing and
retail division of the Naspers Group. He started his career in teaching and
soon rose to the position of executive president of the National Teachers
Union, in KwaZulu-Natal.
Musa is a member of several boards of directors, including vice president of
South African Institute of Race Relations. His business acumen and
experience is of exceptional value to
Uthungulu.
Sipho
Sunboy Sithole

Sipho is
one of Uthungulu’s executive directors. Prior to joining the company he was
employed in managerial position at a large wholesale business. Sipho’s 20
years of experience is of great value to Uthungulu as he is in charge of
Uthungulu Laundry Services (Pty) Ltd, Maximum Protection Services (Pty) Ltd,
Uthungulu Maintenance and Construction (Pty) Ltd and Uthungulu Property
Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
Prof.Otty Ezrom Howard Mandlakayise Nxumalo

Professor
Nxumalo’s appointment to Uthungulu’s board adds a wealth of experience. He
was the Director-General of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal, where he was in
charge of a R20 billion annual budget. Prof. Nxumalo has held a number of
senior lecturing posts in South Africa and in the United States of America.
He has published numerous books and papers on variety of subjects. Prof.
Nxumalo is one of the founding members of Khulani Holdings Limited. His
business experience includes assisting in the running of a successful
business for the past 11 years.
Leon
Ackerman

Leon is
Executive Director of Uthungulu. He is also the Managing Director of Lubombo
Hotels (Pty) Ltd – Uthungulu’s tourism division. Leon has 21 years business
and property development experience. He has held a number of directorships
and management positions.

Sethembiso Christian Vulindlela Mncwango

Chris is
a qualified medical practitioner, who has been practicing as such for the
past 12 years. He has a keen interest in business, especially, although not
exclusively, property investments and the fast food industry, amongst
others. He is currently studying towards his MBA.
Saanthamurthi Naidu
Saantha
is the Managing Director of 4 successful companies in KwaZulu-Natal, which
includes 2 large hotel and conference centres in Durban. Over and above his
extensive business experience, Saantha has 23 years experience as a
financial advisor at Southern Life. His business acumen is of great value to
the company.
Zodwa
Mkhwanazi
Zodwa is
employed by Richards Bay Minerals as a Business Development Strategist.
Prior to that, she was employed by the KZN Provincial Government as an
Assistant Director involved in small business information, such as
Statistics South Africa Advisory Committee and the Demographic Association
of Southern Africa.
Justice Moelase Maweng

Justice
has recently joined the board as non-executive directors. He is an
accomplished businessman, with extensive experience in human resources
management. He has held a number of senior positions in this field inter
alia at BHP Billiton’s Hillside Aluminium and Zululand Anthracite. He has
held the position of Director Corporate Affairs at Riversdale Mining SA
(Pty) Ltd and is an executive director of Maweni Investment Holdings (Pty)
Ltd. Justice has gained in reputation as a “turn-a-round” specialist.
Theunis John Bassage – Company Secretary

Theunis,
an admitted attorney, has been appointed as Group Company Secretary and
Legal Advisor. As Company Secretary, Theunis attends to all the company
secretarial requirements of the group and a legal advisor he provides the
group with legal opinions on a variety of matters and drafts or scrutinizes
all agreements entered into by the group. Theunis brings 12 years commercial
legal experience to the company, having been a legal advisor to a large
financial institution and having practiced as a corporate attorney for 7
years.
